Dentures and Partials in Anchorage, AK

Full Dentures

A full denture replaces an entire arch of missing teeth, upper, lower, or both. It rests on the gum tissue and is built to the shape of your mouth, restoring the ability to chew and speak and supporting the facial structure that changes once teeth are lost. New dentures take some getting used to, and small adjustments during the first weeks are a normal part of the process.

Partial Dentures

When some healthy natural teeth remain, a partial fills the gaps instead of replacing everything. It fits around the teeth on either side of the space with clasps or attachments, which also helps keep those teeth from drifting into the open space over time. Partials are removable, so they come out for cleaning and at night.

Getting the Fit Right

Dentures are custom made for you. The process starts with impressions or a digital scan, moves through a try-in stage where the shape, shade, and bite are reviewed together, and finishes with delivery of the completed appliance. Follow-up visits to relieve sore spots and fine-tune the fit are expected, not a sign that something went wrong.

Living With Dentures

Dentures are cleaned every day and kept in water or a cleaning solution when they are out of your mouth. Gum tissue and bone gradually change shape after teeth are lost, so a denture that fit well at delivery may need to be relined or remade down the road. Regular check-ups let us catch a loosening fit before it starts causing sore spots or trouble eating.

Other Ways to Replace Missing Teeth

Dentures and partials are one option among several. Implants and bridges are fixed alternatives that stay in place, and the right choice depends on how many teeth are missing, the condition of the bone and the surrounding teeth, and what fits your day to day life. We will walk through the trade-offs with you before you decide on anything. If you are needing or are in a complete denture did you know that All-on-4 may be an option for you to have permanent, non-removable teeth? Many people can not tolerate a removable denture, check out our All-on-4 service we offer at Family First Dentistry and call for a consultation to see what your options are.
